Prayer Meet to pay tribute to Dr. Manjusha Chakraborty Ex. Director Planetarium, Vadodara

A prayer meet was organized by The Amateur Astronomers Association of Vadodara, (AAAV) in remembrance of Dr. Manjusha Chakraborty, Former Director of Sardar Patel Planetarium, Vadodara. The condolence meet took place at the planetarium in which senior and junior Amateur Astronomers gave tribute to the departed soul. At a prayer meet, Dr. Hitendra Patel, Chairman, Standing Committee, Vadodara Municipal Corporation, loaded the efforts done by Dr. Manjusha Chakraborty in carrying activities of astronomy popularization. He told that during Dr. Chakraborty’s tenure from 1991 to 2004, the planetarium carried astronomy activities and educational seminars which benefited students and public. Mukesh Pathak, Chief Educational Officer at Gujarat Nature Conservation Society (GNCS) told that the activities done by Dr. Manjusha Chakraborty infused interest in astronomy in school students. Bhargav Joshi, head of AAAV, remembered Dr. Manjusha Chakraborty for the help she gave during initial days of formation of AAAV. He told that Manjusha Chakraborty was always helpful to AAAV in conceptualizing and organizing activities, providing space for sessions of AAAV and public observations.

Noted Garba singer, Atul Purohit, sang a prayer and gave his tribute. Madhuben Shah, Former Professor, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda-Vadodara went down the memory lane and told that Dr. Manjusha Chakraborty helped her a lot in doing the research in Physics. Both had a great rapport in personal as well as professional life. The daughter of Manjusha Chakraborty also joined online from New Delhi and thanked the gathering for the prayer meet. The persons who were in close association of Dr. Manjusha Chakraborty like Ajay Vyas, Dr. Kamlesh Patel, Bakul Shah, Niraj Joshi, Manish Soni were present at the meeting and remembered their association with her.
